Earth Lab Joins Singapore Water Association on Inaugural Coastal Protection Study Trip to the Netherlands

Earth Lab Founder and CEO Angelo Valenton (center in photo) joins over 30 senior representatives from Singapore’s government agencies, private sector, and academia as the Singapore Water Association (SWA) successfully concluded its Inaugural Coastal Protection Overseas Study Trip (OST) to the Netherlands.

This milestone initiative, led by the SWA's Coastal Protection Chapter and jointly organized with Delta Marine Consultants Singapore, expands learning from technical foundations to global strategic leadership in climate adaptation and coastal resilience.

Over five intensive days, the delegation engaged in site visits, dialogues, and workshops with leading Dutch agencies, research institutes, and private sector partners gaining first-hand exposure to the Netherlands’ world-class coastal and flood management systems.

Key Highlights included visits to the Sand Motor, Deltares Wave Flume, Maeslantkering, Afsluitdijk, Oosterscheldekering, IJmuiden Sea Lock, and the Katwijk Garage-in-Dune, offering live examples of adaptive coastal protection, nature-based design, and multifunctional infrastructure.

Earth Lab aims to identify opportunities to apply these expertise and leverage international collaboration to deliver resilient solutions for worsening climate-induced disasters to the Philippines and other at-risk regions.
